The Soft Winged Eyeliner Technique for Hooded Eyes
Does your winged liner disappear into your crease the second you relax your eyes? You're not imagining it. Hooded eyes need a different approach, and a few small changes can completely transform your results.

Step 1: Curl Your Lashes
Start by curling your lashes, especially the outer corners. This opens the eyes and makes it much easier to map out a flattering wing.

Step 2: Tightline Instead of Drawing a Thick Line
Apply black or dark brown eyeliner between your upper lashes instead of across the lid. This creates fuller looking lashes while preserving precious lid space.

Step 3: Set Your Liner
Press a matching matte eyeshadow over your tightline using a tiny liner brush. This helps lock everything in place without adding thickness.

Step 4: Create the Wing
Look straight into the mirror with relaxed eyes. Place a small dot where the upper and lower lash lines meet, then pull the wing out, not up. This prevents it from disappearing into the crease.
Step 5: Soften the Edges
Using a pencil brush and a dark brown or charcoal eyeshadow, gently blend the wing. A soft, smoky finish is much more flattering on hooded eyes than a harsh graphic line.
Step 6: Set The Crease
Lightly dust translucent powder through the crease to absorb excess oil and reduce eyeliner transfer throughout the day.
Step 7: Clean Up the Wing
If your wing gets a little too thick, use a tiny brush and a small amount of foundation to sharpen the edges. It gives you much more control than concealer.
Step 8: Brighten the Eyes
Sweep a soft neutral shadow under the lower lash line and add a matte ivory shade to the inner corner for larger, brighter looking eyes.
With a little practice, this technique becomes quick, easy, and wearable for everything from everyday errands to special occasions. No matter how your eyes have changed over time, you can still wear a beautiful wing with confidence.
